LET LOCALS SHOW YOU
Our day trips offer you the chance to explore the reefs & wildlife of east Lombok from repurposed shark fishing boats. Leaving at 7am from Kuta Lombok…
-
Project Hiu day tours are a full-day experience where you join our mission, meet our crew, step aboard their boats, and hear the stories behind everything we do.
-
The price of our tours include everything; transportation to and from our shop, drinks in the form of water, coffee, and tea, snacks and lunch on board (all vegetarian options and cooked by our crew), snorkel gear, fins, and all water equipment.
-
Our trips run everyday, except for Fridays, with the minimum booking requirement being 2 people.
PLEASE NOTE: If you book onto a day that doesn't meet that minimum requirement, you have the option to either move to another day or receive a full refund.
-
We meet at our shop at 6:45 AM and drive an hour to East Lombok where the boats are.
Once we get onto our boats at 8am, we start our 30 minute journey over to the first of two snorkel spots.
THE FIRST LOCATION we get right into it, getting you in the water as soon as possible! This is a guided snorkel that typically lasts about 40 minutes. We usually get very lucky at this location and can see our local black tip reef sharks, as they've begun to treat it as their nursery. In contrast, our second location is a nice relaxed snorkel, guests have more freedom to choose when they'd like to snorkel. Therefore you can hangout on the boat, jump in right away, ask to use our paddle board, explore the private beach, or relax and soak up the sun!
SECOND LOCATION, we also take the opportunity to teach you more about our project and mission, introduce you to more of our crew, help them share their stories as shark fishermen, and explore their boats a little more. This typically happens after our lunch break, that way we can start making our way back to our port around 1pm.escription
BEFORE YOU BOOK
NEED TO KNOW
-
All participants must be a minimum age of 18+ years or older to join our trips. Failure to meet this age will result in a full cancellation with no refund. The day of your trip, if a staff member suspects you might be under the age, you will be asked to provide proof of age (government issued ID).
You must arrive no later than 6:45 AM. Our trips leave daily at 7am sharp, we ask our guests to kindly arrive 15 mins before 7am.
This is to ensure there is time to make any final payments and to also fill out the necessary waiver for our tour that day.
-
Our vessels are equipped with first aid kits, life jackets & an AED. For the safety of our guests, crew, and marine wildlife, freediving is not permitted on any Project Hiu day trips. Our experiences are designed around guided wildlife interactions from the boat and supervised in-water activities only where advised by our team.
We kindly ask all guests to respect this policy, as it helps us maintain a safe, responsible, and conservation-focused environment for both people and animals.
-
Some things we don't offer and that we encourage you to bring is reef friendly sunscreen, towels, rash guards (protect from small jelly fish in the area), and refillable water bottles! We encourage our crew to not use plastic, therefore we ask the same of our guests!
From our family to yours, we look forward to having you join us on a mission to help us save sharks and give these men an alternative form of income! Thank you for wanting to support Project Hiu!
RIDES:
With being a small team with little resources, we don't arrange any pick ups or drop offs, so we ask that all guests meet at our shop for 6:45am. From here we have a one hour drive to our boats (East Lombok), that way we are on the water from 8am till 2pm. At 2pm we arrive back to our port, and again head back to Kuta, where our guests will be dropped off at our shop which will conclude our trip for the day, ending at 3pm.
-
As mentioned, the food on the boats that is offered is included in the price, and the food served usually consists of light snacks such as tempe and tofu, and lunch can consist of fried rice, fried noodles, light/local vegetable soup, gado gado, and more.
All traditional Indonesian food. Often enough for most of our guests, however we do encourage guests to bring some of their own snacks if they usually need more fuel during long days such as this one!
every trip you book with us saves sharks…
